I do use it a lot for audiobooks while at home, as it has good speakers, and I get tired of earbuds sometimes. I have an 8" tablet, but I don't use it very much for reading. Set the Preferred Output Format in calibre to EPUB (The output format can be set under Preferences Interface Behavior) Set the output profile to iPad (this will work for iPhone/iPods as well), under Preferences Conversion Common options Page setup. If I'm reading a printed book, I estimate that by looking at where my bookmark is. First perform the following steps in calibre. Personally, I don't really care about anything other than percentage. But if you know the total number of pages in whatever format you care about, you can use percentage to calculate fairly easily, even in your head, if you don't need the exact page. So, what are page numbers? The pages of the original book? Do all books have the same page numbers? For an ereader, unless it's a PDF file, the page numbers vary dynamically, so to me, percentage is more useful. My philosophy is the best reader is the one you have with you. It can download newspapers and convert them into e-books for convenient reading. It can go out to the Internet and fetch metadata for your books. It can also talk to many e-book reader devices. I have a Kindle, but I don't really use it very much - I always have my phone, and it's not bad as an ereader, imo, with an HD screen and the right background color. It can view, convert and catalog e-books in most of the major e-book formats.
